In the summer of 2017 I asked Kieran to marry me… he said yes and now we are super blessed to live in such a beautiful apartment in Hartlepool, England.
When we started to look for places to live we decided to rent as we won’t be tied down and were still young and unsure of where we will be in a few years with work etc.
We found this apartment for a great price and it had every thing we were looking for, hard wood flooring, grey and cream colour scheme, high ceilings, ground floor and a stunning bathroom. The ground floor 2 bedroom apartment has a open plan living space with quirky room shapes. Take the living space for instance, it’s a triangle.
We thought we would share some of our little hacks and before and afters from when we first moved in. So sit back and enjoy our journey.
Moving Day included several trips to our storage unit to collect everything we had stored for the past 3 years, like our dining table and chairs.
My younger sister also helped with the big move!
When moving in, it looked like a dumping ground due to vast amount of stuff we both had accumulated but we spent the next 3 days unpacking and adding our own little touches.
One of our old music teachers gave us a piano and as you can see I chalk painted it blue! I absolutely love it!
We have lots of little knick knacks, including concrete planters and light up signs.
Bargains – IKEA TV Bench £9 and IKEA billy book case £14
The Range Rug – £30
Blue Tea-light Holders – £3 Tesco
Travel Frames on the wall – Embrace your journey – £11 The Range
Travel Frame – £15 Tesco
We found a nearly new couch for just £45 online. We steam cleaned it and its as good as new now. We love our soft furnishings so we have a lot of blankets on the couch to give it a cosy feel. Our favourite cushion is the yellow fox cushion, this is from Zakka Camden in London.
Our main light shade is from Dunelm we went for a yellow and a bright bulb.
Our lamp was a bargain from Home Bargains for £26.99 they usually retail for £80 for a tripod lamp.
This has got to be one of my favourite spaces in the living area.
The box storage unit is from IKEA. We have used this space for our music/record corner. With plenty of storage this unit is great for storing vinyls and photo frames. We have my vinyl player on the top and one of Kieran’s guitar standing next to it.
Our table is yet again from IKEA and cost £175
Our artwork on the wall is from Next – Janet Bell for £20 – Kieran bought me it a few years ago.
The tableware placemats are from Dunelm. The cutlery is from Tesco.
The grey plates are from IKEA and the patterned pasta bowls are from ASDA at £4 a bowl.
The chairs were 100 % free – I found the chairs online and picked them up. I used yellow paint I already had and fabric which was gifted to me by a lovely friend.
I absolutely love these chairs!
Our bathroom is super dreamy and we haven’t had to do much with it to improve it. As it is a newly fitted bathroom, with waterfall taps and shower. I have added the white wooden bath board which was £10 from Dunelm.
The artifical plant was £10 from the Range. The small light box was £5 from home bargains. And the natural sponge is from Home bargains. The geometric tea light holder is from Tesco.
I am loving artificial plants the moment! Especially since I always kill real plants!
As you can see from our social media pages, we have updated the apartment with lots of new items and furnishings. These will be added to new posts regularly. We hope you enjoy following our little journey in our quirky little home.
